Love New Canadians

Toronto Partnership Developer

We’re excited to announce that Love New Canadians has a new Toronto Partnership Developer!
Jacob Birch became a Christian in a youth group in the 90s. He’s married to his high school sweetheart Heather. They have 4 young adult children in various stages of living in or out of their home. Jake and Heather began their married life together in Scarborough and have spent 28+ years in local church and denominational ministry together, 25 of them in The Alliance Canada. They live in Holland Landing, Ontario and are excited about seeing Greater Toronto Area churches embrace Love New Canadians.

Hi, I am a volunteer on the Quiet Placehttps://www.meetup.com/online-a-quiet-place-learning-centre-for-canadian-culture/ . You might want to check us out. I live in Leamington and facilitate with this ministry online. I am also thinking about what I see happening online and with the need for New Canadians to have both opportunities to practice their language skills in a small group as well as build connections with others, that this combo of an online ESL group that has the ability to discover if they ask about it, more followup. Sometimes that follow-up is more ESL info, sometimes one-to-one. sometimes a mention of a special event like a Christmas program, etc. but mostly straight Bible, Conversation, and prayer. I live in Leamington and we are the Greenhouse Capital of Canada with so many Spanish-speaking agricultural workers we have a Mexican consulate. We don’t have an online group like this and I think the main ESL teaching groups in town are done post Mass at St Michael’s. I think there is a huge online opportunity just waiting to be discovered at a fairly low cost as Meetups has great invites set up. Would be interested in finding out how LOve New Canadians works and learning more. Found the site on a Handbook for ESL in Church.
